Product Review: Jolie Beauty UniGlow 24 Karat Gold Skin Perfecting Elixir

The search for the perfect facial oil is over! Jolie Beauty’s UniGlow 24 Karat Gold Skin Perfecting Elixir is here to change your life.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Jolie Beauty they are an online beauty and skincare brand create by a group of highly experienced makeup artists. Their brand prides themselves on being cruelty free and vegan.

I was first introduced to Jolie Beauty by a friend who swore by their products, so I decided to try them myself – and I’m so glad I did!

The UniGlow Elixir is packed with vitamin E and 24 karat gold flakes. If like me you have dry skin this facial oil is a life saver, it is amazingly hydrating, after using the Elixir as a moisturiser once in the morning and once at night after cleansing for 1 week my dry skin has almost cleared!

As well as using UniGlow as a moisturiser I also use it as part of my makeup routine when applying my foundation and it leaves my skin looking flawless!

There are two ways you can use UniGlow Skin Perfecting Elixir when applying foundation. Firstly, you can mix 1-3 drops into your foundation before applying or you can add 1-2 drops onto a damp beauty blender before blending your foundation. Either way you choose will leave your skin looking smooth and glowing.

And let’s not forget to talk about the packaging for this product, I love the black and gold colour combination it really makes the item stand out from the crowd. And the materials used for both the bottle and the dropper are incredibly durable.

You can buy UniGlow directly from the Jolie Beauty website Jolie-beauty.co.uk. I highly recommend checking out their other items and why not follow them on social media to keep up to date with new products Jolie Beauty has to offer. You can find their links below.

Beauty 101: How To Deep Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Cleaning your makeup brushes is the most boring part of a beauty routine – but it is also one of the most important! If you could see all of the germs and bacteria on your brushes you would never let them near your face. Using dirty makeup brushes can cause a number of skin issues such as acne, blemishes and skin reactions. To avoid these issues this is how you deep clean your makeup brushes.

  1. Wet

1.jpg

Ensuring brushes are faced downwards, submerge the bristles of your brushes in warm water.

2. Cleanse

2.jpg

Using non-alcohol based cleanser and a cleaning glove, lather the bristles and swirl on the glove for a deeper clean.

3. Rinse

3.jpg

Wash brushes off until the water runs clear and squeeze out any excess water to prevent the bristles from fraying.

4. Dry

4.jpg

Allow brushes to air dry on a flat surface ensuring the bristles are hanging over the sink to dry quickly and easily.

I hope this post was helpful! If you have any tips and tricks for cleaning your makeup brushes leave them in the comments section below!

10 Tips For The Perfect Self Tan

2551d621ce2ed32d3372689fead49373.jpg

If like me you just don’t seem to tan at all in the natural sunlight, fake tan is your best friend! But fake tanning also comes with it’s difficulties, trying to get the perfect shade, have a smooth, natural look and avoid streaks. Here are 10 tips to help you get the perfect self tan.

  1. Exfoliate thoroughly, removing dead skin give a smooth surface to apply tan prevent streaks and patches.
  2. Do not use moisturiser or deodorant the day you tan, this can cause discolouration.
  3. Before tanning take a cold shower to close your pores and prevent them from getting blocked.
  4. Use aloe Vera on your hands, elbows, knees and feet – these are places that often change colour.
  5. Make sure you use a mitt, you don’t want tanned nails or palms.
  6. Bend your fingers into a claw to get an even tan on your knuckles.
  7. Attach a tanning mitt to a back brush for easy reach.
  8. Apply the tanner to the centre of the mitt and fold the mitt in half for even application.
  9. Start slowly, if your tan isn’t dark enough you can apply another layer rather than struggling to remove tan if you have over applied.
  10. Exfoliate your palms after tanning to remove excess tan.

Top Jobs In Fashion And How To Get Them

Millions of people around the world are passionate about fashion, but very few pursue their dreams of working in the industry. Fashion is a hard line to get in to, job opportunities are scarce and not a lot of people know how to go about getting into the industry. But what if I told you that you could do it? Here are the top jobs in fashion and how you can get them.

  1. Stylist

Being a stylist is so much more than just picking a cute outfit, it’s a fast paced and forever changing role and is definitely not for the faint hearted. As a stylist it is your responsibility to find and cast models, create mood boards to fit the theme and requirements of a shoot, direct hair and make up artists, get the clothes and products needed for a shoot – this may mean working directly with a brand or buying products from stores, merchandising products, providing expert knowledge, taking care of sample stock and props, keeping up to date with designers, brands and trends and providing assistance during a shoot.

download.jpg

If that long list hasn’t put you off then here’s how you can become a stylist. Some employers prefer their stylists to have a degree in a fashion related subject such as:

  • Fashion Communicating and Styling
  • Fashion Image Making and Styling
  • Fashion Product and Promotion
  • Fashion Styling and Creative Direction
  • Fashion Styling and Production
  • Interior Styling and Design

An Internship is also a great way into the industry, being a stylist is a hands on job and there is no better way to learn the ins and outs of the fashion world than first hand experience.

2. Fashion Designer

As a Fashion Designer you will more than likely specialise in one area e.g. sportswear or children’s wear. There are also 3 categories of fashion you can work in as a designer:

  • High Street – Producing items in mass quantities that fit with the current trend of the general population.
  • Ready-to-wear – Producing a small amount of an item, often used for events or photo shoots.
  • Haute Coutour – A one of a kind piece that takes a long time to produce often for catwalks and red carpet events.

unnamed.jpg

Your responsibilities as a Fashion Designer are to create a hand drawn or computerised visualisation of your ideas, keeping up to date with trends, planning and developing a product or range, working closely with design and production teams to ensure the product fits with requirements, buying the materials needed to produce the designs, creating samples and negotiating with customers and suppliers.

To become a designer you will need to obtain a degree in either:

  • Art and Design
  • Clothing Technology
  • Fashion Marketing and Buying
  • Fashion
  • Graphic Design
  • Knitwear
  • Textiles

Although being a fashion designer requires a lot of hard work that salary does soften the blow with most Senior Designers earning £42-85k a year or more!

3. Fashion Merchandiser

A Fashion Merchandiser is essential in the retail industry. These are the people who keep shops stocked and up to date with trends. As a fashion merchandiser your job is to plan, prepare and stock ranges, to work closely with everyone in the chain from suppliers to buyers, collect data, create visual displays, budgeting, produce sales forecasts, analyse sales trends, study competitors, negotiate costs and make financial presentations.

shutterstock_141627877.jpg

For this role you will need qualifications in either:

  • Accountancy and Finance
  • Business and Management
  • Economics
  • IT
  • Marketing
  • Mathematics and Statistics
  • Retail Management

The salary for a senior merchandiser is up to £85,000 per year with most companies also offering benefits packages.
